LugRadio Live USA 2008

Apr 20th, 2008 | By admin | Category: Bollywood, Entertainment, Health, Hollywood, Money News, South Asia, Sports, Technology, Top News, World

Jono Bacon, Stuart Langridge, Chris Procter, and Adam Sweet talk about Linux, open source, and all manner of associated things while in the glorious land of America in the LugRadio Live USA 2008 live recording. This show includes:

  • Screw you, stupid users (hurriedly retitled to account for children in the audience): is there a point at which it’s reasonable to say that software cannot be simplified further and that if some users can’t grasp it, it’s just not for them? Can free software meet every user’s need — can any software meet every user’s need? Or is it reasonable to say that some people are just not suited for computers? (2.30) [Discuss this segment in the LugRadio forums]
  • Our chance to reward some of the people at LugRadio Live USA: the roflcopter award, a birthday for the youngest member, a Dice raffle, the best exhibition at LRL USA, the person who sent the most people to the show, Jorge Castro’s Miguel de Icaza impression. and Kynan Dent from Google in a dress (17.33)
  • Is American culture too litigious, and is this affecting the free software community’s ability to do things in the USA? How the fear of falling foul of the legal framework affected the organisation of LugRadio Live, and comments from the audience about whether this is widespread and what we, as a community, can do about it (34.17) [Discuss this segment in the LugRadio forums]

A big thanks to our sponsors, Dice, LinuxQuestions, and Linux Pro Magazine, and a huge extra thanks to our main sponsor Google for making LugRadio Live USA happen! Thanks also to Mike Evans for all the brilliant design work done for the event; it looked great, and that’s Mike’s work.

Managing E-Mail and Records

Apr 15th, 2008 | By admin | Category: Bollywood, Entertainment, Health, Hollywood, Money News, South Asia, Sports, Technology, Top News, World

Do you work in an industry where every piece of e-mail you send (or sometimes even think about sending) has to be archived for legal purposes? In today’s regulation-heavy environment, if you’re not careful, cleaning out your Mailbox can lead to cleaning out your desk. To make the process of archiving e-mail easier, you can use Managed E-Mail Folders in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

Once set up by the administrator, Managed E-Mail Folders are accessible in Outlook 2007 and Outlook Web Access 2007. You can drag messages required for archival to these folders where they will be governed by administrator-defined retention and expiration policies.

Likewise, an Office SharePoint Server 2007 Records Repository can help you archive and manage important documents of record. IT personnel, lawyers, and records managers can use the Records Repository site template to quickly create an online records vault and apply information management policies to govern record labeling, auditing, and expiration. Documents can be uploaded to the repository directly from your favorite Microsoft Office 2007 applications.

Managed E-Mail Folders and SharePoint Records Repositories are easy ways to stay compliant with external regulations and internal policies.
